The consumer guide to uncovering the best value
in extended auto warranties and repairs.
Where to Find the Best Extended Warranty Deals ...
All of the top warranty brokers and agents can be found online. Do a Google search for “extended auto warranty” or “auto extended service contract”.
When selecting a warranty company, broker, or agent do your homework. Perform a Better Business Bureau (www.bbb.org) check of the companies you are looking at. Note that not all companies are accredited or even listed with the Better Business Bureau. This does not mean there is a problem with the company. When the BBB started charging companies fees to get an “A” rating many companies have opted out of membership. However the BBB still tracks and reports complaints against companies who are not members. If a company is not listed by the BBB it means they have no complaints.
Another tell-tale sign of a good warranty company is how they interact with you. Are they pushing you into purchasing right now? Is there a special price good for only today or this week? These are high pressure sales tactics of companies you don’t want to deal with. The good companies will spend the time to learn about your car and your driving habits and will not pressure you into an immediate decision.
The insider's tip is only deal with companies that will show you the warranty contract before you buy.
What to Pay for an Auto Warranty
There are no hard and fast rules. Reputable warranty companies and warranty brokers are in business to make money and they wouldn’t be in business for long if you weren’t saving money. Do expect to pay a fair price for a fair policy and don’t be fooled by a cheap policy with very little coverage. After all it’s all about saving money and peace of mind.
