How To Use The 3M Headlight Restoration Kit

If you are restoring your car's headlights, it is best to have a professional install the 3M Headlight Restoration Kit. The kit comes complete with all the tools you will need for the repair. You do not have to worry about any kind of complicated installation procedure, as this kit comes with detailed instructions. All you have to do is read through them carefully and put all the pieces together according to the instructions on the kit.

Before going ahead with the restoration, it is necessary to ensure that all the bulbs in the kit are in good working condition. Locate the headlights first by pulling out the plug-in connector located at the bottom of the engine. The wires leading to the headlights should also be found. Then, remove the screws that secure the plastic cover behind the light bulb. Locate the small metal ring in the center, and turn the light switch off.

Use the screwdriver to loosen the tabs that surround the light bulb on each side of the headlight lenses. Remove the bulb, taking care to avoid the headlight lenses. Locate the small black ring in the center of the light lens. This black ring, as well as the haze, needs to be removed carefully, using your fingers. Remember to keep your fingers away from the headlight lenses.

If there are any damaged or broken light lenses, it is necessary to replace them before proceeding with the 3M headlight restoration procedure. Do not proceed if you find that any of the lenses are bent or damaged. Once all the damaged lenses have been replaced, place the headlights back together. Make sure that all the screws are well fixed.

Start off by spraying some industrial-grade silicone lubricant onto the headlight lens surface. The lubricant will give the headlights a slippery feel, so it is important that you don't slide around. You can apply the lubricant by yourself using the supplied application bottle. Make sure that the lubricant is completely dry before applying the next step.

Now that the headlight lenses are properly lubricated, you can begin the 3M headlight restoration kit procedure. Take a clean cloth and dampen it with warm water. Use this damp cloth to rub the inside edge of the headlights. Make sure that you do not rub any sharp objects like rocks or aluminum foil. You want to make sure that all the dust is removed. If any of the dirt is left, use the small brush provided with the kit to clean the headlights.

After ensuring that your headlights are properly cleaned, you will now need to clean the glasses. If possible, it would be better if you could skip replacing the glass, but if not, then you need to carefully remove the glass. Place the glass in a pan with warm water to soften the surface and remove as much of the debris as possible. If you are not experienced in removing the windshields, then you may want to have a professional come over to your house and do the job for you. This should leave your car looking like new, and you will have the confidence to drive it home.

With the dirty exterior of your headlamps complete, you need to add the 3M headlight heavy duty kit. To do this, you will need to take out the three black license plate frames and cut them, so they fit securely on the side of your car. You can then replace these with clear polycarbonate lenses. Next, place a piece of hardware on the frame at the base of each license plate. Place the new polycarbonate lenses in the frame and press the hardware down until they are firmly holding the lenses in place.
