Car Snow Covers are one of the most cost effective ways to protect your paintwork and keep it from getting chipped, faded or completely destroyed by driving in inclement weather. They come in a wide variety of materials to suit your particular needs. A lot of car owners would be surprised to know that even their own cars can be a target for damage if the right conditions are present. There is a variety of causes for this damage and they include the usual things which usually affect cars in general such as dirt, grime and grease which all end up sitting on the surface of the car and causing it harm in more ways than one.

The most common of these causes is likely to be dust and moisture, but there are other more uncommon ones too. One thing which car snow covers can help to protect against is the effects of direct sunlight which may actually end up weakening the metal finish on your car's surface. Most would agree that the sun is one of the biggest causes for the deterioration of cars which already show signs of ageing, and the same thing can happen to you. If you buy a cover to stop it getting dirty and thus preventing further corrosion you will be much better off in the long run as the longer you use it, the better the protection.

There are a number of different styles of car snow covers which all do a similar job. The main types tend to be divided into three categories namely -'ELASTIC FREE', 'RIGHT & ELASTIC' and also 'MOBILE'. Amongst these three you will find those which are made from'ELASTIC FREE' vinyl. This is because it does not have any other material to work with and has been specifically designed to prevent rain water, sleet and snow from getting into the seams. It is also very easy to clean and is able to resist chemicals such as acids and fuels.

These are very useful in the winter months as they are able to effectively stop the rain, sleet and snow from entering the vehicle and getting stuck. It is however worth noting that whilst this is a great invention, if the vehicle has a windshield it will not necessarily be safe as they are made from thin pieces of glass. The same principle applies to the car window snow covers as well which have a protective membrane between two sheets of glass. They are able to prevent all of the elements mentioned above from entering the vehicle but unfortunately the glass can be damaged by high speeds or impacts as well as the sun. The reason for this is that the film can easily be broken but is made from plastic which is not as durable as glass.

The next type of cover which has become popular over recent years is the UV protected car cover. This type is generally made out of urethane foam which will not allow any of the elements mentioned above to pass through it, only the ultraviolet rays of the sun and a few other rare items. This type will not affect the paintwork or uv ray protection of the vehicle but is often found to be more resistant than the fibreglass and urethane foam versions.

People who drive through mainly inclement weather conditions such as heavy snow, sleet and hail will find that they will often have to contend with the elements whilst they are parked. The first element of weather conditions which the car cover will need to combat is that of the light frost. This is created when snow meets with the thinner air temperatures of the air and is able to freeze at this point. If left alone, this can lead to a thaw which will create the conditions for sleet to collect on the exterior of the vehicle. Once this has occurred, as the snow settles, it becomes very difficult to remove as the ice turns into water. In addition, this water can start to damage the paintwork and uv rays in many cases.

Therefore, the cover has to be able to cope with these types of bad weather conditions and be able to provide a barrier to prevent both the snow and ice from entering the vehicle. The materials used in the manufacture of the cover are made up of high performance fabrics which have been specifically selected to be light in weight but which are extremely durable and which will be able to withstand the harsh treatment that these weather conditions bring. The uv rays will be blocked by the elasticated surface of the cover. In addition, the cover is extremely easy to clean and provides an effective barrier to any form of moisture. The seams of the cover are placed at such angles that once connected properly, there is no scope for air to seep through them. In addition, once the cover has been applied, it is very easy to remove it and reuse.

This makes the uv ray blocking ability of the car windshield cover much more effective than that of the conventional fiberglass and urethane foam alternatives. It also means that the cover is capable of withstanding extreme temperatures of up to minus twelve degrees Celsius. The only drawback to the use of this type of cover is the fact that it does not offer any form of protection when it is exposed to sharp objects. However, it is capable of withstanding punctures of all sizes and types. It should be remembered, however, that even though the cover is effectively uv resistant, it is still a cover and should be treated as one.
